The Red Dragons have expressed a serious interest in Bolton Wanderers’ captain George Thomason. Local outlet The Bolton News reports The Trotters have even accepted a £1.2m bid for the 24-year-old midfielder, who must now decide whether or not to make the move to Wales.
Meanwhile, Lewis O’Brien has been a long-time transfer target of Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson, according to The Athletic. The Nottingham Forest midfielder spent the second half of last season in the Championship, making 16 appearances for Swansea on loan.
McElhenney, Reynolds and the club’s brain trust are once again demonstrating their ability to push through deals as they rise up the leagues. Ex-Sheffield Wednesday striker Josh Windass is expected to complete a medical on Monday ahead of his free transfer to Wrexham, while Wales keeper Danny Ward, forward Ryan Hardie and left-back Liberato Cacace have all signed on this summer.
Parkinson’s side are returning from their pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand ahead of their first campaign in English football’s second tier for 40 years. Wrexham’s league season starts with a tricky assignment away to recently relegated Southampton on August 9.
